Rivera leads BBC to Olympic gold

The London 2012 Olympics was the most digital and social games ever, with the BBC’s online traffic up by nearly 20 times on Beijing in 2008. The BBC’s Olympics site combined a bespoke video player with unprecedented user testing – and great content – to create a hugely successful overall result. Ralph Rivera, the BBC’s director of future media, is the man responsible for delivering its Olympics output online. In Cannes for the annual MIPCOM event, Rivera spoke to Julian Blake about London 2012 – and his expectations for the 2016 games in Rio.
